After extensive planning, meeting, and receiving valuable feedback from stakeholders and the federal Administration for Children and Families (ACF), the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) has received approval on California's Five-Year Prevention Plan to articulate its vision on prevention services. The Family First Prevention Services Act allows states to develop and implement a Title IV-E Prevention Program. The prevention program is intended to shift the focus from reaction towards a focus on prevention and early intervention. California intends to use prevention funding to continue to build a comprehensive system of care which emphasizes prevention and early intervention services.
